
On February 18, the promotion event for the 137th Canton Fair was successfully held in Lima, Peru. Approximately 150 representatives from local trade promotion departments, business organizations, and enterprises attended the event, which garnered attention and coverage from media outlets such as CGTN and CAPECHITRADE.

Zhang Sihong, Deputy Director of the China Foreign Trade Centre, stated that the longstanding friendship between China and Peru has fostered positive momentum in bilateral economic and trade cooperation, which continues to maintain a positive development momentum. As the “No. 1 Exhibition in China,” the Canton Fair serves as an important window and platform for China’s opening-up. The 137th Canton Fair will further optimize its exhibitors and products, enrich trade promotion activities, and enhance the convenience for participants. He expressed hope that Peruvian buyers would make full use of the Canton Fair app, actively register for the event, publish their procurement needs, plan their trips in advance, and engage proactively with exhibitors to maximize their experience and benefits from the fair.
Song Yang, Chinese Ambassador to Peru, Yao Ming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Peru, Tan Yiyong, President of the China-Peru Chamber of Commerce, Máximo, former Vice President of Peru and a long-time participant of the Canton Fair, officials from the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Xu Xianjun, General Manager of Bank of China Peru, and Gao Tianyu, General Manager of Sinotruk Peru, attended the event and delivered speeches.


During their stay in Peru, the working group visited the Peru-China Chamber of Commerce and held discussions on areas such as promotion, market research, and co-hosting the “Peru Night” event. They also visited Cencosud Group and Falabella Group, both ranked among the top 250 global retailers, to conduct research on the local retail market and understand their latest procurement needs. Additionally, they sought feedback and suggestions from these companies on providing regular “Trade Bridge” matchmaking services.
