To better serve local economic development, establish a “never-ending” Canton Fair, and support high-quality foreign trade growth, the China Foreign Trade Center, in collaboration with the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce and the Dongguan Bureau of Commerce, organized the Canton Fair Leading Multinational Buyers Event in Dongguan (Dalang and Songshan Lake) Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading Base from December 19 to 20.
The event was attended by notable guests, including Zhang Sihong, Deputy Director of the China Foreign Trade Center; Sun Bin, Deputy Director-General of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce; Xing Wenju, Standing Committee Member of the Dongguan Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor; and Pan Yingqi, Director of Dongguan Customs, who delivered speeches.
A total of 24 leading multinational buyers and over 70 manufacturing enterprises from Dongguan participated in one-on-one matchmaking sessions in groups, achieving intended procurement agreements exceeding USD 62 million.
A Gathering of Industry Leaders, Brimming with Orders
Upon the announcement of the event, over 20 leading procurement enterprises and professional buyers from countries and regions such as the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and the UAE enthusiastically signed up to participate. Among them were industry giants like Koopman, the largest import trading company in the Netherlands; Taurus, a leader in the home appliance sector in Spain and Southern Europe; and Aditya Birla, a textile and apparel retail giant from India.
The visiting buyers brought substantial orders, covering categories such as apparel, fabrics, accessories, 3C electronic products, and small household appliances. Multiple rounds of supplier pre-matching were conducted beforehand, demonstrating their strong intent to collaborate.
Sun Bin extended a warm welcome to domestic and international enterprises visiting Guangdong for procurement. He encouraged entrepreneurs to fully leverage the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s open advantages and hub connectivity to both domestic and international markets. He emphasized the importance of sharing Guangdong’s comprehensive industrial and supply chains, steadily advancing the export of Guangdong’s competitive products, and continuously enhancing the province’s international competitiveness and influence.
Strong Alliances, Targeted Matching.
Dalang, a historic manufacturing hub, is renowned as the “World’s Woolen Weaving Capital.” Meanwhile, Songshan Lake serves as Dongguan’s technological innovation hub, with a concentration of industries in electronic information and the digital economy. Beyond the apparel and electronic information sectors, this event also attracted home appliance suppliers from nearby towns like Changping and Qingxi, all of which are government-endorsed, highly reputable, and boast strong manufacturing capabilities. Xing Wenju noted that Dongguan, as a manufacturing powerhouse in China, has consistently played a pivotal role in global trade with its robust industrial foundation, well-established supply chains, and efficient logistics systems. To cater to the diverse preferences and requirements of buyers, suppliers meticulously prepared samples, product catalogs, and materials, and assigned professional foreign trade staff with relevant international market experience, ensuring comprehensive readiness for this valuable matchmaking opportunity.
In 2025, the Foreign Trade Center will collaborate with local commerce departments to focus on key themes, aligning efforts with procurement demands. Regularly planned events will bring leading buyers to national foreign trade transformation and upgrading bases, building a “Trade Bridge” to facilitate negotiations and cooperation between suppliers and buyers. Overseas buyers and foreign trade enterprises are warmly invited to leverage the Canton Fair’s online platform and participate in the “Trade Bridge” series of activities to unlock vast business opportunities.
