On August 27, 2024, the China Foreign Trade Centre’s “Trade Bridge” partner BSR successfully held a presentation meeting for the Canton Fair in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event was attended by key figures including Mr. Guo Xihong, Chairman of Guangzhou Digital Silk Road Co., Ltd. (BSR) and Honorary President of the Saudi Guangdong (Yue) Chamber of Commerce, Ziad A. Aljuhaiman, Chief of special Economic Zones Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Investment, Saleh F. Aljaber, General Manager of special Economic Zones Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Investment, Mansour Abdullrahman Al Salem, Portfolio Management Local Real Estate Investments at the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and several senior officials and advisors. Also present were Zhu Dongmian, President of Canton(Yue) Chamber of Commerce in Saudi, Ms. Fatima, Secretary-General, and other attendees. The meeting was hosted by Liu Di (Cindy) from the Sino-Saudi International Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Investment.

Mr. Guo Xihong, Chairman of Guangzhou Digital Silk Road Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “BSR”), delivered a speech highlighting the significance of the Canton Fair as one of the world’s largest and most influential trade fairs. He emphasized that the international strategic layout of the Canton Fair not only plays a crucial role in enhancing the global influence of Chinese brands but also provides a high-quality international cooperation platform for businesses from various countries. Guangzhou Digital Silk Road Co., Ltd. (BSR) has signed a cooperation agreement with the China Foreign Trade Centre this year for the “Trade Bridge” initiative of the Canton Fair, formally establishing a strategic partnership. This collaboration involves practical cooperation in areas such as investment promotion, “Trade Bridge,” group participation, and trade services, providing integrated online and offline connection services for buyers.
The upcoming 136th Canton Fair, scheduled to take place from October 15 to November 4, 2024, will feature three major highlights: First, an optimized thematic structure covering advanced manufacturing, quality home products, and better living, with many cutting-edge technologies and innovative products on display. Second, a higher quality of exhibitors, with over 45,000 participating companies, among which a significant proportion are high-quality enterprises, showcasing the hard strength of Chinese supply. Third, a rich array of conference activities, with more than 600 trade promotion events planned to create more market opportunities for exhibitors and visitors. As a strategic partner of the Canton Fair, BSR sincerely invites the Saudi government, Ministry of Investment, and entrepreneurs to participate deeply, promote Sino-Saudi economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, and further strengthen the mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries in the fields of economy, technology, and culture.
Mr. Guo Xihong also shared the value of BSR’s services related to the Canton Fair, highlighting the professional and convenient assistance provided to Saudi businesses for participating in both offline and online Canton Fairs. The considerate services offered include registration, local reception, hotel booking, translation, business matching with exhibitors, and factory inspection. BSR particularly emphasized the “Trade Bridge” services, which aim to offer Saudi buyers more convenient and efficient procurement channels, helping them quickly connect with global manufacturers and find more suitable and high-quality Chinese products. This not only enhances the competitiveness of enterprises but also promotes the deep development of Sino-Saudi economic and trade relations.
Mr. Guo Xihong also extended an invitation to the Saudi government to organize Saudi enterprises to participate in the import section of the Canton Fair, striving to establish a special Saudi national pavilion to showcase more Saudi-made products to the world through the largest global exhibition. Finally, he shared BSR’s plan for “China Smart Manufacturing Exhibition“（CSME2025）which aims to lead more high-quality Chinese supply chains and manufacturing source factories to localize and establish a presence in various countries.
Mr. Ziad A. Aljuhaiman from the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia highly recognized the global influence of the Canton Fair and expressed a strong desire for BSR to launch the “China Smart Manufacturing Exhibition” overseas as soon as possible. He stated that if BSR could collaborate with the Canton Fair to hold exhibitions abroad, especially in Saudi Arabia as the “first stop,” it would be an honor. He highlighted that Saudi Arabia is committed to implementing the “Saudi Vision 2030,” which aims to diversify and internationalize the national economy, and hosting global-scale trade fairs is a key measure to achieve this goal. The arrival of the Canton Fair will help elevate Saudi Arabia’s international trade status and provide more cooperation opportunities for local enterprises.
Mansour Abdullrahman Al Salem, Local Real Estate Investment Manager at the Public Investment Fund (PIF), further emphasized PIF’s support for the cooperation plans between the two parties. He noted that PIF is committed to promoting strategically significant international cooperation projects, and BSR’s role in global promotion of the Canton Fair, the “Trade Bridge” supply and procurement matching in Saudi Arabia, and the planned ”China Smart Manufacturing Exhibition“ in Saudi Arabia align with this strategic direction. He proposed that PIF is willing to provide comprehensive assistance in terms of financial support, resource integration, and market promotion to ensure effective interaction between Saudi enterprises and high-quality exhibitors in the CSME2025. Additionally, he suggested that BSR expedite the establishment of a localized service contact point in Saudi Arabia to provide prompt and professional services for Saudi buyers interested in participating in the Canton Fair, including registration, local reception, hotel arrangements, translation, factory inspections, and trade bridge services.

The Trade Bridge at the Canton Fair is an innovative initiative launched by the organizers to facilitate precise connections between suppliers and buyers. This initiative aims to help exhibiting companies accelerate their expansion into foreign trade channels and improve purchasing efficiency for buyers. The industry customer service team of the Trade Bridge conducts one-on-one match-making for buyers who publish purchasing intentions on the online platform. They comprehensively understand the attributes of the procurement products from various aspects, including product functions and specifications, product images, factory requirements, trade methods, minimum order quantities, export markets, product certifications, packaging, and past cooperation with suppliers. Based on this information, they recommend suitable suppliers to buyers and arrange one-on-one trade connections.
After in-depth discussions, the parties reached a substantive cooperation intention, including: establishing a joint working group responsible for the preparation and implementation of various tasks; finalizing the specific plan for setting up a Canton Fair BSR localized service contact point in Saudi Arabia; exploring the establishment of a long-term cooperation mechanism to promote more high-quality economic and trade cooperation projects; and focusing on advancing BSR’s plan to co-host the China Smart Manufacturing Exhibition with the Canton Fair in Saudi Arabia, including key aspects such as venue selection, exhibition scale, and exhibitor selection. Additionally, the Saudi side plans to send a high-level delegation to Guangzhou to further discuss cooperation details with the Canton Fair and Guangzhou Digital Silk Road Co., Ltd., promoting high-level strategic cooperation exchanges.
This meeting marks a significant breakthrough in the cooperation relationship between Guangzhou Digital Silk Road Co., Ltd. (BSR) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, laying a solid foundation for the future development of Sino-Saudi economic and trade cooperation. It is expected to greatly enhance communication and collaboration between enterprises from both countries and bring new development opportunities to both sides.
