Due to the recent rainy weather in the United Arab Emirates, some foreigners woke up in the morning to find that the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom have been flooded.
They quickly got large towels to block the crack in the door to prevent a large amount of water from flowing in. Some people placed buckets in the kitchen specifically to collect water leaking from the roof.
French expatriate Christine Quartier La Tente felt very frustrated when she saw rainwater pouring down from the ceiling of her villa.
Christine said, “We constantly seal the windows and waterproof the roof, but even so, new leakage points continue to appear, which are usually caused by structural problems in the house.”
This foreigner residing in Damac Hills 2, Dubai laments that tenants have to bear the cost of repairing the house, which was not originally their responsibility.
Due to the processing personnel taking some time to come over, Christine came up with a method of collecting rainwater from the ceiling. She wrapped a string with tape and then directed the water into the bucket.
At the same time, Ninu Hyder, a resident of Jumeirah, saw a puddle in the kitchen for the first time.
She said, “I stayed in the kitchen for over an hour, trying to drain the water and then spread some towels on the floor. Fortunately, the puddle is now gone.”
Foreign resident Soobi Shine said, “My entire garden has been submerged, with water everywhere and continuous rain. It will take me a few days to thoroughly clean up the mess.”
However, Soobi is grateful that rainwater did not enter her house. “We have learned from the lessons of previous rainfall, the roof has a waterproof coating, and we have also recently cleared the drainage ditch.”
Ahmed Waqas, a resident of Al Majaz in Sharjah, complained that he had to deal with apartment water leaks repeatedly during heavy rain.
He said, “Although I am working hard to solve this problem, the repeated leakage is really despairing. Through today’s heavy rain, the root cause has finally been found. I have contacted the landlord and believe that this problem will be solved soon.”
