Recently, 8 additional airlines have launched their SkyPier sea-air intermodal connection service at the Pazhou Ferry Terminal. As of July 18th, the number of airlines offering this service has reached 66. Passengers can complete immigration and customs formalities at the Pazhou Ferry Terminal before heading to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), a seamless ferry transfer from the heart of Guangzhou to HKIA.
Located adjacent to the Canton Fair complex in Haizhu District, the Pazhou Ferry Terminal is the only water-based cross-border port in the central urban area of Guangzhou and it ensures a swift two-hour journey to HKIA via speedy ferry with 9 shifts of “4 out and 5 in”. Passengers departing from HKIA should arrive at the counters on 2nd Floor of the Terminal 90 minutes prior to departure, as check-in will be closed 30 minutes before departure. Since its operation in April 2023, the Pazhou Ferry Terminal has welcomed over 160,000 passengers (more than 40% are overseas passengers), ranking second in Guangdong, just behind Shenzhen Shekou Ferry Terminal.
A total of 8 new airlines have introduced the interconnection service, including: Starlux Airlines (JX), Air Japan (NQ), Air Mauritius (MK), Air Astana (KC), Air Busan (BX), AirAsia X (D7), IndiGo (6E), and Jin Air (LJ).
Notably, 18 of the 66 airlines currently facilitate check-in services at the Pazhou Ferry Terminal, allowing passengers to complete check-in procedures and baggage tagging at the Terminal. This streamlined process ensures that passengers can proceed straight to the boarding gates and claim luggage at the destination airport.
The remaining 48 airlines still require passengers to complete check-in procedures upon arrival at the HKIA instead of at the Pazhou Ferry Terminal.
To provide better service for passengers from home and abroad, the Terminal is equipped with amenities such as an automatic foreign currency exchange machine, a mobile carrier service counter, and a taxi rank. Additionally, a special service has been offered for many years at the Pazhou Ferry Terminal: passengers can get a tax refund voucher that can be redeemed for a cash refund of HKD 120 on-site at the SkyPier.
